Corporate Health Insurance

Employers competing for and retaining staff increasingly look at the benefits they offer alongside salary. Corporate health insurance is one of those levers. It gives employees access to a corporate health plan, often on terms an individual could not arrange alone, and the employer can choose to contribute toward the cost. Positioned well, it forms part of the employee value proposition and the way a business supports its workforce.

What the cover provides is set by the health insurer’s product, not by the employer or the broker. For that reason we describe corporate health as access to a corporate health plan with employer-contribution options, and we do not claim particular health, productivity, engagement or absence outcomes from it. The benefit is the access and the contribution structure. The clinical and health outcomes belong to the product and the individual’s circumstances.

DKG is an advisory-led general insurance broker. We help employers understand how corporate health fits within a wider people-risk and benefits programme, and we connect it to the other workforce levers such as group cover, employee assistance programs and injury management. We set honest expectations about what the benefit is and is not, and cover is subject to the health insurer’s product terms.

What are the benefits?

  • Access for employees to a corporate health plan, offered at employer level as part of the benefits programme.
  • Employer-contribution options, so the business can choose how it supports the cost.
  • A benefit that can form part of the employee value proposition alongside other workforce benefits.
  • A consistent, employer-arranged approach rather than employees each arranging cover alone.
  • A view of corporate health alongside the other people-risk levers, such as group cover, employee assistance programs and injury management.
  • An adviser who explains what the benefit is, what it is not and how it sits in the wider programme.

What can it cover?

Corporate health is arranged at employer level and the cover is set by the health insurer’s product. In general terms, and subject to the product terms, a corporate health arrangement can be designed to provide:

  • Access for employees to a corporate health plan or plans.
  • Employer-contribution options toward the cost of cover.
  • Positioning within the employee value proposition and the wider benefits programme.
  • A structure that connects to the other workforce levers in your people-risk programme.

The benefits available under the plan are set by the health insurer’s product. We help you understand the structure and how it fits your benefits programme, rather than representing particular health or product outcomes.

What usually isn’t covered?

Corporate health is a workforce benefit, and what it provides is set by the health insurer’s product. In general terms, and subject to product terms, the following sit outside what this benefit offers:

  • Specific health, clinical or treatment outcomes, which are not guaranteed.
  • Benefits beyond those set by the health insurer’s product.
  • Productivity, engagement or absence results, which are not a feature of the cover.
  • Matters the product is not designed to answer.

What the plan provides is determined by the health insurer’s product terms. We are clear about what the benefit is and is not before it is arranged.

How DKG supports you

We start with your benefits objectives and how corporate health fits the wider people-risk and benefits programme, then help you understand the structure, the employer-contribution options and how it connects to group cover, employee assistance programs and injury management. We set honest expectations about what the benefit provides, and we do not claim health, productivity, engagement or absence outcomes from it. We refer personal, clinical and tax questions to the appropriate adviser.

Where support is needed during the arrangement, we help coordinate with the health insurer and keep the corporate health benefit aligned with the rest of the programme. The benefits available are determined by the health insurer’s product terms, and we make no representation as to health or product outcomes.

Corporate health cover is a workforce benefit. It provides access to a health plan the employer arranges and often subsidises. What it does is give employees choice and support in their health care. What it doesn't do is guarantee health outcomes or solve absence. We help employers understand what corporate health insurance actually delivers, how it sits with life and income protection cover, and whether it's the right fit for the people-risk programme.
